See the bricked up window. In former years, there was a tax on windows and if you didn't pay, the city would brick up your window. This was how they got the expression, "daylight robbery."
This is St. Cuthbert's Church. The little wooden door to the right is known as "The Devil's Door." It was opened during christenings, so that the devil could escape.
