Beware of breakdancers! (or don't slip, fall, crack your head and sue us!)
Christine attempting to take a picture of the hillside vinyards from the moving train. See the silver line in the middle of the picture? That is a metal track that a chair (and maybe machinery) moves on to go up and down the hill to reach the grapevines.
More vinyards along the mosel
Christine in Moselkern, starting the journey to Burg Eltz
Christine next to the Eltz in Moselkern. Eltz means "stream," so Burg Eltz is literally "Castle by the Stream." The Eltz flows down to the Mosel River.
Christine just leaving the road and beginning to hike through the woods to Burg Eltz
This is the biggest snail I've ever seen! The path had lots of big black slugs (I guess it's always dark in the woods), but this was the only snail and the only white snail (albino?) we saw! It was disgusting, but kinda cool.

A small tower built by a bishop who decided he wanted to take down Burg Eltz. It was supposedly a five-year siege, though the tour guide thought that wasn't true (or at least it wasn't constant) or the castle would have been ruined. There are no written records of the siege other than its beginning and end. The bishop lost.

At last! Burg Eltz!
